Job Duties

Responsible for designing and improving the control systems of the company to ensure it operates efficiently.  Perform trend analysis of incoming data patterns from various field devices on a regular basis for possible anomalies and work with the support team to determine the best course of action for problem resolution. Maintain and/or enhance complex automation system platforms by providing support for the system software specific to oil and gas production related data collection, alarming, and data presentation. Provide technical assistance for the design, selection, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all elements of the Company's SCADA and communications systems by directing, coordinating, evaluating, and supervising the work of employees in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and construction activities. Work with company and contract personnel to plan, design, install, configure, program, maintain and modify automation equipment installations.


Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field or foreign equivalent, plus 3 years of post-baccalaureate experience as an automation analyst. Must have experience in the conceptual design of the software to be used in control and information systems and establishing standards, templates, and guidelines as applied to the automation. Must have experience in programming languages including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, RSLinx, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware Archestra, IGNITION, KEPServerEX, ICONICS, OSISoft PI Historian, PI Processbook, MS SQL Server.

Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

Administer, test, and implement MS SQL Server databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases. Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases. Create and review database designs and databases with proper index architecture related code. Assist development team with specifications and requirements regarding data and database design following standards and best practices.

Must be competent in capacity and performance monitoring as well as tuning of SQL servers; troubleshoot server and database problems; maximize performance and tuning of all SQL servers. Understand execution plans.

Perform normal administrative tasks, such as security and access management, support of scheduled jobs, support of backup and recovery jobs.

Design and build internal applications/processes to improve the administration and support of the database/application environment. Install and test upgrades and patches for the database servers and the database management tools in all environments.

Applicants must be a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) with 5 years experience in SQL Server, SSRS and T-SQL Development. 

Helpful skills include Wonderware Historian and OSIsoft PI Historian.


Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, demonstrate excellent problem solving, verbal and written communication skills. The applicant should function efficiently act as part of a larger development team.

  • Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems, such as the installation of new databases.
  • Develop data model describing data elements and how they are used, following procedures and using pen, template or computer software.
  • Develop methods for integrating different products so they work properly together such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.
  • Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
  • Establish and calculate optimum values for database parameters, using manuals and calculator.
  • Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management.
  • Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
  • Review procedures in database management system manuals for making changes to the database.
  • Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project.
  • Review workflow charts developed by programmer analyst to understand tasks computer will perform, such as updating records.
  • Revise company definition of data as defined in the data dictionary.
  • Select and enter codes to monitor database performance and to create production database.
  • Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database.
  • Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
  • Train users and answer questions.
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.

Senior Automation Engineer

Automation Engineer is responsible for a variety of engineering tasks in the field of process automation and SCADA. The engineer will successfully apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to support engineering. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in engineering leadership as well as the ability to develop and implement standard engineering practices, as well as provide detailed documentation upon project completion. This person will be the project technical lead and may be responsible for some project management activities.


Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to develop automation systems control configuration. Develop the functional specifications, coding strategy, logic, and control configuration structure. Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, and oversee all configuration and documentation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete engineering design, testing, and commissioning of facility instrumentation and control systems.
  • Perform engineering tasks using established procedures, these include but are not limited to, equipment selection, schematic design, system layout, cost estimation and system documentation.
  • Automation and SCADA project planning, scheduling and budgeting based upon project commissioning and start-up schedule.
  • Develop and implement facility control and automation solutions based on cause and effect documentation, P&ID’s, control narrative and an understanding of the facility environment.
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of instrumentation, SCADA, control and safety systems.
  • Generate system architecture and automation network drawings.
  • System testing and troubleshooting of control programs
  • Work closely with company personnel to optimize facility efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide guidance and training assistance to employees.

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or Instrumentation.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in similar position required.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, P&ID prints, blue prints and control systems.
  • Experience designing and programming control systems with emphasis on PLCs, SCADA or HMI systems.
  • Experience in commissioning and startup of control systems is required.
  • Ability to work with plant engineers, external vendors, operators, and management to manage projects and assignments is essential.
  • Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases.
  • Experience with control system networking technologies and PC networking technology.
  • Must have a working knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, operating systems, and equipment.
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities while working with various types of people.
  • Candidate will be a self-motivated and self-directed individual with good communications skills.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA packages such as: Ignition, iFix, Iconics, Rockwell RSView, or Wonderware.
  • Experience with PLCs such as: Rockwell or Modicon.
